Chase Your Dreams

Ever since I was little, I’ve been fascinated with writing. When I was about seven, my dad bought our first desktop computer, and I would spend hours writing short stories—amid playing “Ski Free” and getting eaten by the abominable snowman…  😊  There are probably two dozen half-finished ramblings stored on that old hard drive, and it makes me so happy to see how far I’ve come.

Writing isn’t really one of those things that most people consider a career. It’s hard. Really hard. But I love it. If it weren’t for my husband, I probably would still be stuck in the same boring cycle—get up, go to work, come home, go to bed and then do it all over again. Day after day, year after year. But I wanted something more—I wanted to find something I really loved to do.

About a year ago, my husband and I were having a conversation about what I wanted to do when the kids go to school. I could go back and finish my degree, or I could start a totally new venture. He suggested doing some part-time editing because I love to read so much. I reluctantly told him that my dream was to write a book, and he proceeded to hand me his laptop. I rolled my eyes and opened Word… and started writing.

Just over a year later, my first book, Escape, has been released. Now my second book, Death Do Us Part, is already being sought out by a couple different publishers. I can’t begin to describe how thankful I am for this experience. It has completely changed my life. My books might not be for everyone, but they make me happy—and that’s my hope for my readers. I hope that you’ll read my stories, get transported to a new world, and fall in love with my characters. Know that true happiness is out there—and you will find it.

Never be afraid to chase your dreams. Find something you love and go after it wholeheartedly. It’s true that we’re not all made the same. Not all of us are meant to be doctors or lawyers or astrophysicists. And that’s okay. Take criticism with a grain of salt—don’t listen when they tell you you’re not good enough. If you truly love something, your passion will shine through. Learn from your experiences, but never give up. When you get knocked down, get back up. You can do it. Keep pushing forward and never look back.

xoxo
